I have posted this several times before. A "caveman" type of diet has been shown to be beneficial in IBD in a number of small studies. The diet has many different names: Paleo, Paleo IAP, SCD, IBD-AID, GAPS- the results are the same as are the basic tenets of each diet...cut out processed foods and eat foods with only one or two ingredients and see a reduction in IBD activity. I'll be the first to admit that I do not follow any of these diets at the moment and find them extremely difficult to adhere to. I tried SCD for over one year and could not draw any conclusions from that experiment.
Studies show improvement in gut dysbiosis, reduced inflammatory markers, improved symptom control. Unfortunately, there are not enough large studies to say anything for sure, but to me, there is enough there to say everyone should at least try an all natural style diet if they feel their medication is not enough. Google all of these diets and their studies to draw your own conclusions.
