I'm doing a major and ongoing site redesign for my business site for usage and SEO purposes; it is very difficult and a PITA. You can not do just one or two things like going to a responsive mobile site and adding HTTPS; it is not enough to fix a traffic loss/algorithmic penalty.
A few things that could improve SEO rankings for the forum:
The URL structure is very outdated. It should be more like www.healingwell.com/ulcerated-colitis/forum-redesign-page-3 to match/reflect the Title of this page. Right now it is (https://www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=38&m=4073312&p=3) . This is probably one of the things that hurts the site the most.
There is no H1 tag, that is a big No-No. It should match the Title of the page.
I'd try to add allowing posters to add a title to their post(if they wanted to) and make that an H4 tag.
Auto suggest some similar threads at the bottom of the page. It will add more relevancy for the page and make for a better user experience and interaction with similar topics.
There is no meta descript
ion tag, I'd take the first 150 characters of the original post and make it the Meta descript
ion because Google can be really bad about
auto-generating meta descript
ions. This could help with the clickthrough rate.
