Sooooooooooo ... since I was non-responsive to Humira, my doctor has put me on Xeljanz in the hope of getting me some improvement as quickly as possible.
10mg 2x day, standard UC dosage. I took my first (PM) dose on 12/4.
Bolstered by a profound hope (I’ve been flaring since March) as well as the miraculous stories that this stuff could start working in just a few days, I was over the moon when I felt ... good?! ... yesterday. Less blood, less urgency, technically 2 fewer trips to the bathroom but when you’re at 12+/day it’s hard to be overly excited about
Today sucks as normal, however.
I’m emphatically not losing hope. It’s super early; yesterday doesn’t mean it’s working and today doesn’t mean that it’s not.
Only presumed side effects so far were a headache and some super weird leg bone pain yesterday. Nothing terrible.
Also, I think I’ve started my countdown. If I do not have improvement/reasonable hope of improvement by the end of summer 2019, then I’m going to start discussing surgery. I refuse to live like this.
Dx: 5/17/17; flaring since 3/2018
Rx: Lialda 1.2gx4, Uceris, Humira (fail), Xeljanz
