I know a few of us here use sfRowasa and it hasn't been available for a long time. Today I called the number on an old box to get an update and received some "hopeful" news. Apparently since Meda was bought by Mylan, they put a hold on making it. However Mylan has released a new NDC for the drug, which the rep told me is because they are in the process of getting it ready for release (supposedly December 21, nothing like waiting 6 months for a drug!). So the new NDC, in case you want it is 0037-0022-07. I called my pharmacist and they also said this was a very good sign. Fingers crossed we might see this med again by 2019!

Thx for the update. They have kicked the can down the road so many times, I've lost count! Hopefully they stick to this release date.
How nice that some bean counter somewhere can just put a hold on a medicine that many people rely on to stay healthy.

I know, it drives me crazy and this current craptastic flare up I am experienceing is thanks to being without rowasa for so long. The person I spoke with was actually nice and said it was a good sign that there is a new NDC, she was the first person I have ever spoken with that said more than the party line. Not that I believe the release date, but I feel a bit more positive this time around.

So I'm guessing the NDC for the 28 dose box is going to be 0037-0022-28 ?
I am currently over my out-of-pocket cap for the year and would love to get some before the year is up. I do wonder if Insurance companies are going to have it in their system right away since the NDC has changed. I also wonder if they are going to change the name too? That stuff is crazy expensive, something like $1500 for 28 doses.

I would guess the 14’s and 28’s would end as such! I should have asked but didn’t think of it. It is so expensive, I pay $1542 for a 28 day supply before we max out. We hit our out of pocket max for the rest of the year, and I would love to get a “free” box before year end if possible!

Today was the day they were supposed to be available, but my pharmacy says it still shows as unavailable.

UPDATE:

I spoke with a Mylan rep this morning and they claim that sfRowasa is now available for distribution. Call your pharmacy and let them know that they should be able to order it some time soon. Fingers crossed the person I spoke with wasn't wrong!

Wow, your pharmacy is quick! I was told I had to call on the 14th and they would process it then.

Fingers crossed. I order from a small speciality pharmacy. (Safeway, CVS, Walgreens, and Optum could never source it ). Btw, I read them the NDC you posted and the pharmacist said the # was the same - no change. I’ll report back if there are any issues.

I got a call yesterday from my small, local pharmacy. They will have it Tuesday! My pharmacist had to use the new NDC, that's funny!

I've called a whole bunch of pharmacies in Phoenix, and so far they all say it is unavailable. What pharmacy did you use?

I have a small, independent pharmacy that was able to get it. Express scripts can’t get it yet. I think the 7’s aren’t out get, just the bigger boxes.

My pharmacy just called to tell me they can't get any more. I wonder if I got an old batch or a new one and they released only a few. Of course now I have 8 bottles left and am trying to figure out if I am better off using half a bottle every night or 1 every other day, alternating with Canasa. What a pain, because the area I really need to reach is in my sigmoid, not my rectum. I see my doctor on Monday, I may see if I can try regular rowasa and deal with the fact that sulfites make me wheeze.

Looks like supply simply cannot keep up with demand. I have not been able to refill my script for a couple of weeks. both of my sources say it is out of stock with no ETA. Other users hearing the same?

Thank you,

I'm getting it at Walgreens with no problems, at least so far.
