I had a follow up with my GI today. I had been on salafalk enemas daily for 4 weeks. I had started to mildly flare about
2 months ago. Mucous, some abdominal discomfort, left sided discomfort and then I saw some blood on my stool. Soooo I rang my gi and got the enemas. Prior I was only on salafalk tablets daily.
So during these weeks it’s all been good. Back to normal and almost perfect stools.
I’m going to taper probably to twice weekly maintenance. I’m scared. My GI said that you don’t get dependent on them and why we may regress when stopping isn’t really known why.
My question is: do I do every other night or should I start with on, on, off, on, on, off for 2 weeks. Then do every other night for 3 weeks and continue?
I’m having 1-2 BM a day. Usually 1. In the morning. I took an enema last night but not the night before. Today morning bm fine but I did have a second one in the evening. Solid but still 🙄anxious about
it of course.
Advice? Words of encouragement? Support?
