Remission means waking up, going about
your day without a passing thought of having an UC. You kinda had a taste of remission, but being on pred excludes remission (has to be steroid-free).
To use an analogy, being in remission is kinda like being in love. You can't force being in love/remission, rather it just kind of happens to you one day out of the blue and surprises you. But once you're in love/remission, you know it through-and-through without any doubt. It's (remission) feeling normal again, being symptom-free, and no longer worrying about
bathrooms. It's a pre-diagnosis kinda thing, feeling great again. You can forget you have UC for a while and enjoy yourself without limits or excuses due to your UC.
For me, a remission is 1-bm a day that's formed and without urgency. You can hold it again, with no rush to go. You don't have blood or any abdominal discomfort/ pains.
