I was diagnosed with mild uc over 3 years ago in just the lower part of my abdomen and for the most part have been in remission while just taking lialda 1.2g 2/day. Occasionally I’d have a mild flare but would resolve after a week or so after I’ve doubled up on the medication.
about a month ago after being in remission for about a year I started getting symptoms again which have since then progressed and gotten worse. about a week ago I went and saw my specialist and he added Budesonide 3mg 3/day to take in addition to my lialda. Since then it seems to have gotten worse.
3 days ago I took myself to the er with severe pain in my upper stomach below my rib cage. Symptoms included frequent dark red bloody diarrhea, excruciating pressure/tightness in my stomach (mainly upper abdomen below rib cage), nausea, and acute anemia due to the fact I have barely eaten in weeks (no appetite), almost fainted multiple times while standing up as well. Drs ordered a ultrasound and eventually came to the belief it was gastritis. They added Pepcid 20mg 2/day and gave me some norcos for the pain. Told me to follow up with my specialist who is out of office for the new year holiday.
3 days later now since I’ve been out of the er and the pain is still intolerable. I’ve been taking all my meds and having to take norcos back to back because of the pain in my stomach ( pressure/ tightness/ soreness). I haven’t eaten in 3 days and have been nauseous and can barely even drink water. I’m getting nervous with how much I’ve been needing the Norco but at the same time I can’t deal with the pain when they wear off.
Any idea what could be going on? I feel like Nothing is working.
Also how do people go to work with this disease? I’m in construction and fear I won’t be able to hold a job when this stuff happens. I heard it qualifies for disability but is that even worth it?
Thanks is advance for any feedback
