I have had UC since 2009 and within a few years I have had a chronic cough that no specialist can figure out. It never goes away unless I'm on Predisone for UC and once off it comes back. I have been to Critical lung, Ent and GI and all said don't know why have this chronic cough. Until I found this sight and seen others have the same issue. The ENT in 2018 said some can never be figured out tried me on never meds and that messed me up so no longer on that. right now on second month of Predisone and running fever, stomach pain and buring, nausea with at times throw up. Seeing GI again this week to figure a medicine to help. We will see been fighting this Flaree up since March 2018. So i believe my Chronic Cough is related to UC .

I have had an ongoing cough and I was told it was reflux. It sounds like you've been to ENTs and they didn't find any evidence of that for you though. Many of us take acid reducers while on prednisone, it might be something you should try. Mine seems to come and go, but it's better now, than it was when I was actively flaring for long periods. Now, if I get it, it's here one day and then gone for longer periods.

I have one too. I’ve been to an ENT, allergist, and my GI for a scope. They want me to go for a PH test for my stomach.
I have no real acid reflux, allergies, or ENT issues. My lungs work properly for my age.
Mine comes and goes. It use to be worse

I don't have chronic cough with UC. I'd wager you have something else going on that's causing the coughing.

What other meds are you on?
I don't think it's UC-related simply because there are soooo many reasons for a cough.
Did the ENT do a scope of the area around your larynx? Any redness?
Has the GI done an upper scope?
When is the cough most active?
Welcome to the forum.

My GI wants me to go for “manometry and pH testing” for my cough. My upper Endoscopy was clear.
The next recommended tests involve putting a catheter/scope down my nose into my stomach. You have to be awake for it.

Have had a chronic cough for the last 2 years now and cough up mucus regularly every morning.
Went to all kind of docs, did X-Rays, pulmonary function test, ENT, next step was supposed to be CT scan but I never got that part done. No tests found anything though.

Morning I have had it all done in 2018. Even the device attached to my escophous to test acid, camera put thru my nose and down into my throat. ENT , Lung and Gi doctor can't find a cause for this cough and I have had it for 8/9 years and not first time I have been tested with no cure. But when put on Predisone for UC after about week and half it stops, when stop Predisone it comes back. I am on 2nd month of predisone for UC flare up after 1st month stopping it within 3 days symptons came back by 5th day not good so back on it for another month.

Bull101 good luck. I have had it all done to me and I can be driving to work and start coughing hard and throw up tons of liquid, flame, etc. I can be woken up from sleep to throw up. But again been to all specialist and nothing they can figure out or do to help me. And yes I am on acid reflux meds and have been for years . I have never experienced heart burn.

Perhaps the allergist suggestion is a good one. I have to say, I've known a few people with coughs that haven't had much luck finding the source. One of my friends did have an allergy and she was able to use a mist to help her's. Have you tried changing diet at all?

"Have you tried changing diet at all?"

i have on several occassions over the last several years. no it just stays with me. I get such a deep hard cough that my rib cage will be in severe pain and have to get on meds to help. This has been going on for me for at least 8 to 9 years. Wonder why specialist can't help but as the ENT and Critical Lung doctor said there are just some people who COUGH and doctors can't figure it out.
