another anti-inflammatory, and with a pr-inflammatory path not previously exploited by other drugs. that sounds good.
the news about new drugs follows attention ramped up over 15 years ago to the basic science, chemistry, and biology, of the immune system and the mucosal barrier. The pace of science is just slow and complex. I often read people saying why can this get more attention or be done faster - or even claims that nobody is researching. Mostly this is a misunderstanding of to scope of basic things that need to be figured out about our biology.
I see new treatments in 4 areas: genetic therapies such as stem cells to address vulnerabilities, anti-inflammatory therapies to block inflammation, probiotic therapies (including FMT) that target gut microbes, and some environmental (including nutrition) no already covered under probiotics.
There does seem to be more news in the anti-inflammatory area.
