I can not be specific with the information provided. You need to explain which forms of Mg do you use, how often, if there is any specific brand etc.
With Iron, its a double-edged sword. It is claimed that Fe can feed some of the (bad) bugs in the gut. (the doctor is saying the same thing.) I have not found any concrete evidence of it but on some of the other boards, I frequent, many have reported that after taking iron supplements, some have abdominal discomfort. Are you using Ferrous sulphate, then it is a known irritant. Try using Ferrochel form of Iron and see how it goes.
If you are using to increase Hb levels, then add Lactoferrin along with it. It acts as a carrier molecule.
With Mg, try malate or glycinate form. It should not give you any troubles. Citrate and oxide form is known to result in abdominal discomfort for some.
This is a risky endeavour but if you are interested, flush you gut a couple of times after taking charcoal. So take a good amount of charcoal on Friday evening and flush using Mag citrate or Vit C on Saturday. It will lead to watery diarrhea for almost all day but it will clean the heck out of your gut. Then rebuild your flora with whatever method you follow. I do this as and when required but I have a solid flora rebuild plan with resistant starches in place.
I have mentioned a few times that I get bouts of depression (out of nowhere) and they are linked to the gut flora. After I do the flush as mentioned above, the depression disappears like magic. If somebody tells me this, I would not believe or call it BS but it is not.
Bottom line, it is telling you something that you need to heed, how, is your decision.
Good luck with the investigation.
