Many of us have dealt with Prometheus Labs over the years with blood tests for immunosurpressenants and biologicals and fighting it out with our insurance companies not approving the claims. Very stressful.
I had a blood test done in 2018 for Stelara which my insurance company denied (as expected) and at the time my GI's office gave me some paperwork that said the most that I'd be responsible for would be up to $300. Fine, no problem, do the blood test, I'll pay it.
I hated Prometheus Labs, they tried to get me for $900 in the past (6-mp) and wouldn't negotiate at first, later the accepted $300 from me. They were notorious for not accepting insurance and being difficult to deal with as a patient.
So I got a bill in the mail today from Prometheus Labs, I expected that it would be $2,500 and I would have to provide some financial documents to get the bill down to $300 or less. I was all worked up when I called them because I hate this company and I was ready to fight with them. To my surprise my bill was $75 and they had written off the other $2,425. They told me that it was correct and they are running a pilot program, patients whose insurance completely denies the claim will only be responsible for $75. I paid it on the spot.
