Welcome to the forum, but sorry your bumm is broken like ours is
What's your total dosage of mesalamine? Without knowing the pill dosage, 4-pills doesn't mean much. A typical patient is started with an oral 4.8 grams of mesalamine a day, and a 4.0-gram mesalamine retention-enema just before bed. I would certainly ask about
the enema and ask about
a dosage increase if you aren't taking 4.8 grams a day (note always confirm with a gasterenteroligist/pharmacist on dosages, as some formulations are lower dosage like, notably Apriso and Salofalk Granules).
During flares, we are generally recommended to have a low-residue diet, low-fiber, non-spicy, and only well-cooked foods. Stuff like soups, broths, and chicken with potato generally sit well with us. Alcohol and caffeine can be problematic during flares, so we often avoid them during them.
