Usually antibiotics are not given unless there is evidence of infection. Pain meds may not be offered since drs have been under the gun about
prescribing. My dentist told me years ago that jaw teeth are the most difficult ones to pull & more prone to cause pain afterwards. If the teeth have grown into the bone this makes things a little more traumatic. No one wants their kid on a narcotic, however, if they are rx'd & your kid is in a lot of pain don't let him/her suffer out of fear. Only a small amount will be prescribed if at all. Look for an ice pack that will wrap around the jaws. Keeping the swelling down will also help with the pain a great deal. The warm salt water is great too, you will be given instructions on when to start doing that.
I hope things go well.
