I got my Delzicol last week through the mail-in pharmacy and they shipped me generic pills with a letter saying Delzicol is now generic. So that's nice. 13 years into having UC and I finally get a generic for my oral med. I was originally on Asacol, which some of you will remember they "re-formulated" into Delzicol to keep making money off of us...i.e., they slapped a capsule over an Asacol pill that they divided into 4 pieces, but it's the exact same medicine. I wish we could just have generic Asacol since I can't swallow all 6 pills at once with the pointless capsule Delzicol has on them. But I'm glad to be saving a bit of money, regardless.

Interesting and news to me, what's the company name on the bottle and pill size? Bonus if you see NDC (followed by a number) on the label (pharmacy codes that identify the manufacturer, dosage, and other info)?

I'll look later and get back to you. The pills look the exact same as Delzicol (400 mg).

I bet you it is this:
https://www.biospace.com/article/releases/teva-announces-the-launch-of-a-generic-version-of-delzicol-mesalamine-delayed-release-capsules-in-the-united-states/

There's a few generic manufacturers of mesalamine, teva, mylan, and zydus.

Thanks! Yeah matches my educated guess. Hope it saves you and others some money. A greater availability of generics has gotta drive the high prices down.

This link says there's one FDA approved AB-rated generic equivalent for Delzicol and it's made by Teva, approved May 9, 2019.

However this link also says that Delzicol is made by manufacturer "Apil", which I've never heard of. I thought Delzicol was made by former Asacol manufacturer Warner Chilcott?

Yes, it will save me quite a bit of money! Now it's only $15 for a 3-month supply with my insurance! I think it was $120ish before.

UCinGV: My Delzicol bottle says Allergan Pharmaceuticals. I just Googled it and found this: Warner Chilcott (formerly Galen) was a company in the pharmaceutical industry based in Rockaway, New Jersey. It was primarily focused on women’s healthcare and dermatology. On October 1, 2013, the company was acquired by Actavis (now Allergan).

I just learned that APIL likely means "Allergan Pharmaceuticals Ireland Limited"
