My dog (cocker spaniel, 13 years) has had water, yellow, foul D for 6 days. No other symptoms at all. Perfectly happy, bouncy pup- we still walk 5k a day. Not bad for an old gal. She tested negative for parasites. She's on day 2 of a 7 day course of flagyl. I've been absolutely paranoid and anxious that she has colitis---and honestly it wouldn't surprise me----- The vet just said to finish the flagyl and if she's not better to come back in a week. There really hasn't been much improvement other than her stool is now brown than yellow. Still smells like death and is obviously hard to pick up. Her farts are causing the depletion of the ozone
I'm sure if I didn't have IBD I wouldn't nearly be as anxious about
it but I'm almost in tears over this possibility. My vet didn't mention colitis but it seems like that would be the next step as far as testing. I really wish it was a parasite!
The vet told me to stop her kibble and switch to Royal Canin GI food and supplement with rice, chicken etc. She's also given her a probiotic to take.
She's not going any more than normal it's just water.
Anyone else have any suggestions?
