Hello everyone , I am 19 , male , diagnosed with left side UC and currently in flare. I have urgency and pain issues and a lot of gas issues. I take an antacid in the morning before breakfast on empty stomach. Its name is CYRA -IT and is composed of - Rabeprazole, Itopride.I am taking 4800 mesalamine , 100 mg azathioprine and folvite tablet also daily.
I have been taking it since 3 months. Before this one I was taking Pantocid 40. I read online that antacids can affect my kidney and other health if taken for a longer time.
Yesterday and today , I forget to eat the antacid and I feel like my gas symptoms has reduces. Even my urgency is alzo reduced.
I Request you all to please help me and tell can antacid be a problem in UC? Can stopping it be good for UC? Or maybe I am wrong? And some other lifestyle or diet changes may have resulted in getting symptoms better?

altering acid levels in the GI tract can change where and if some mesalamine meds release. You might have been cutting the efficacy of your mesalamine. But two days of observation is not a firm basis for speculation because UC can vary day to day.

IF the problem was gas, try something gas-focused like gas-X.

good luck

Certain antacids (or acid blockers - PPI’s) like Nexium, Pepcid, Prilosec, etc are known to give me diarrhea if used for more than a few days. Sometimes they can cause more issues than they are treating.
