Has anyone had perfect blood marker readings and no significant GI symptoms only to be told after a scope that there is still active inflammation in colon.

This has happened to me and feel really down. Thought it was remission.

My blood markers have never matched my flare status. What do you mean no symptoms?
What is the extent of the inflammation, meaning how high?

Yes, it has happened to me. Blood tests in range, no mucus, no blood, no cramps no nothing and yet the scope showed a mild inflammation. As far as I know it is considered ok by a few GE. In fact, after that scope I was in remission for ten years and the subsequent scope 5 years later showed no inflammation.

Mine did too when I was first in remission. I don’t recall Now when that colonoscopy was but I do recall being disappointed it wasn’t showing full clinical remission yet. The next colonoscopy did though

It takes a while to get rid of the microscopic inflammation

Yeah, had a disconnect between symptoms and endoscopy before. Thought I was doing well, and was given a severe inflammation surprise after my scope.

I was on prednisone @ 20mgs, knew I was flaring but at 4-bms a day that were semi-solid, with slight urgency, and occasional blood. I thought I had mild inflammation at most. Doctor said I looked like raw hamburger meat inside, to go on remicade or consider surgery asap. Chose remicade which worked brilliantly.

I think that this is what I’m experiencing. I get mild diarrhea most days and some pain off and on, but no blood and no issues from urgency. I started taking mezavan 1.2 g yesterday and I’m still taking safalok suppositories. Im keeping the suppositories because they worked two years ago and because of what I’ve read on this forum. Today I have a phone call (I hope) with my GI regarding my last scope. I have the prednisone she prescribed here and I’m going to do some hard thinking before I decide to take it, even if she has very convincing arguments
