Haven't been on for quite some time. Hope everyone is doing well. I have been in a mini-flare for 3 weeks after developing colitis from a bacterial infection thanks to I am pretty sure lettuce from cold mexican take out at a friends party. Had to go on anti-biotics for the infection and 3 days after getting better bam UC symptoms. I have been in remission for a long time so this isn't super fun. My real reason for posting is wondering if anyone has had any luck with the Medical Medium. I tried searching on this topic but couldn't find a thread in this forum on it. If there is one please link!

I would not waste your money on a Medical Medium, fraud-alert, scam alert, sounds like they're selling placebo-effect at most.

I was visited by a ghost last night who warned me that the ghosts who visit the guy from Medical Medium are just trolling him and giving him bad information just for the fun of it.

So I wouldn't trust him.

Interesting. so many people I know swear by celery juice for their autoimmune diseases. I thought someone on here would have tried it. I am fortunate that mine goes back into remission with medication, but I figure can't hurt to try it out. I've already done whole30 so it can't be much harder than that. haha.

Pretty much everything that could possibly help has been tried here before. I think I remember others mentioning celery juice before. Generally do no harm, and might be a tasty drink. I just would not expect any miracles in improvement for your UC symptoms from it.

He has been recommended to me so many times over the years, I don't think I can count them all. I did actually read his book and I had to close it about half way.

He thinks that the epstein-barr virus causes everything, and that juicing is the way to fix it... especially celery juice.

It frustrates me that such charlatans make so much money, and run workshops to convert people to "practitioners" who carry their pseudo-medical opinions forward.

Honestly, if someone recommends that book to me, I take it as an immediate sign that they are an intellectually lazy person and I stop taking them seriously.

It's so easy for people who have no real medical problems to recommend this hogwash because most of those people on a "healing journey" have more mental problems than they do physical problems. People who really listen to that book have drunk the koolaid.

No, but I read the reviews and someone said that humming is good for autoimmune diseases... something about the vagus nerve and helping with pain and inflammation. I like this one, since my kids got to be teenagers I am careful not to hum. Couldn’t hurt to trysmile

I’m also going to book a visit for acupuncture in the next few months.

I also followed the Pamela popper food list for almost a week and that helped me because I was making lots of rice and potatoes and cooked carrots ahead of time making me less likely to get hungry and eat processed junk food.

I’ve been meaning to go on a two or three day of veggie juice diet at some point for a while, thinking it could give my body a break.

In regards to all of this, I think it’s been well documented that the placebo effect exists. Furthermore, playing around with my eating habits makes me feel like I have some control. UC can be so disempowering, trying alternative treatments with medical treatment feels empowering.

This guy has been debunked so many times with his claims, it's just too funny. He has no real evidence to back up all of his claims except what he blogs about. He is someone with a blog & nothing more. For all of these claims of the benefits people have received I chalk it up to the good old placebo effect. If a person convinces their self they are feel so much better after drinking an 8 ounce glass of celery juice every morning, good for them. Just remember it will not cure one single thing,

The world is full of people that are willing to buy into things like this. If anyone wants to try, rather than giving good money away, go buy a stalk of celery & get to juicing it, much cheaper.

This reminds me of the Korean spam we use to get here at HW about the black magic that could cure everything from a broken heart to every ailment under the sun, lol.

Apparently, a small study showed that wheatgrass juice helped:

Has anyone also tried turmeric for digestive and anti-inflammatory support?

Lots of strong opinions on this one. I expected no less from this group. I haven't ever found food to help or hinder me from flaring or not flaring. Once I am in a flare it obviously does make me go more(especially coffee, which sucks as I love it) but again nothing seems to get me back in remission besides time, rest, and my meds. Thanks for all the insight(and laughs). Keep on keeping on! Maybe someday they will actually find something that works.

At the risk of hijacking this thread, I will try to answer your question. If you take advantage of the forum's search feature you will find many threads dealing with turmeric and curcumin, (curcumin is a concentrated extract from turmeric).

Here is a small sample:

“Jen”, my daughter and I actually went to one of the Medical Medium’s healing events in Connecticut about 4 yrs ago. At the event, he called up 20 random people to the stage. There were 1,000 people at this event. My daughter’s name was called much to her surprise and she had a personal reading by Anthony William (Medical Medium), and he just stood before her and diagnosed various things that were going on in her body. Turned out he was spot on when she went to her Doctor. She was told to juice with the celery juice which she does faithfully and it helps her with her IBS and other digestive issues. Her husband was diagnosed with mesentery perniculitis two yrs ago after being admitted to the ER in terrible pain. The doctors said he needed surgery and would need his colon removed. He rejected surgery and went hime to follow the recommended MM diet of foods to heal. When he went back for his follow up six months later, the doctor was amazed to find he was completely healed. He feels great now and will not go back to eating what he used to eat and swears by the MM diet protocol.
The MM protocol is not easy to follow but in the case of my daughter and her husband, it definitely works for them.

Nana,

it is great that it has helped your daughter and her husband.
I have never heard about MM before. I have done quick
research on the Internet. I have to say that he (Anthony William)
is typical placebo seller. He probably believes in what he is selling.
That makes him even more dangerous for less informed people.
I believe that selling placebo is not ethical. I would stay away from him.

Good Luck

Here is the Medical Medium diet, as summarized by the author:
https://www.medicalmedium.com/blog/medical-medium-28-day-cleanse

Half of this stuff I can't eat while I'm flaring. Banana and date smoothies? So much sugar and fiber, I'd be in excruciating pain.

Any time that someone claims their specific detox diet is a cure all for anything, I know they're woo woo.

That actually looks like a super healthy diet from what i could read on that link. Looks to be a plant-based diet from that snapshot of one-day's worth of meals.

^This. They're suggesting diets and supplements that are easily found on the Internet for free. There's nothing new or revolutionary being suggested by these mediums.
