I have had a ton Of stool on right side of colon, Doc thinks a stricter. Left side inflamed. So back to nightly enemas. I went in cuz my stomach is so big, must be the poop.

Anyone else have right side stricter? What did you do to help it?

This doc recommended Cleveland Clinic.

Also, Why does it take so long for enemas to start working on inflammation?

I’m feeling really down . Dang it.

Thanks,
Linda

Wow...not a diagnosis to expect....stricture isnt a good thing. Why Cleveland Clinic specifically, and how fast can you get in?

Just throwing this out there...why not surgery considering all the hell you've been through?

hugs,

Hi! That’s why I’m going to Cleveland, to look at surgery. Can I take Rowasa morning and night or just night?

I’m not impressed with U of M so far with my GI.
If anyone knows of a good colon surgeon at U of M, please let me know.
Thanks

My gasteroenteroligist prescribed two rowasa enemas a day. He said it makes no difference whether I took them at different times, or one immediately followed by the other. Easier to just do two in a row, and then just go to bed to be done with it.

It could be a stricture. Or it could be that the left-side inflammation is impeding movement of stool from the right to left side. I think the condition of the transverse colon would be a key piece of information here. If the transverse is clean and stool is not leaving the right colon, this is more like a stricture.

good luck

Get copy of the radiologist's report for the CT scan, and let us know what it says.

A stricture can happen with UC on occasion. But if you do have one, it could indicate that you actually have Crohn's, or an 'indeterminate' form of IBD that is halfway between Crohn's and UC.

If they do see evidence of a stricture, then you should have a colonoscopy with biopsies taken from the stricture.

And if it is a stricture, then mesalamine drugs probably aren't nearly enough to help it. If it's active inflammation, a biologic might help. If it's scarring/fibrosis, no medication will help.

This is the exact wording from scan:
“Mucosal enhancement and striated wall thickening splenic flexure, descending and sigmoid colon with hyperemia of the vasa recta. This is compatible to Crohn’s disease. Large amount of stool present proximal to the splenic flexure. This suggests underlying stricter. No visual fistula . No abscess.”

They told me it maybe scar tissue or because the left side is so inflamed could be the still can’t go through and there might not be a stricter.

X-ray tech said the colon when it’s going up by traverse colon and to go down the left side (towards feet) is very inflamed . He can’t “see a stricter “ but it’s either that , scar tissue or inflammation not letting stool pass.
I’m never nauseous or running a fever.
I’m doing enemas morning and night and lialda now. Pred on a short course. Lots of stool softeners and
