I'm happy to report it's been a year since my takedown surgery. A few days ago I had a pouchoscopy and my surgeon said everything looked great. He said as long as I don't have any issues, he didn't need to see me for 5 years. It was such a strange thing to hear. After years of frequent doctors appointments, to hear that I beside a annual check up with my GI, basically I am done. I know there are no guarantees and there probably will be some bumps on the J-pouch road but, I'm really happy with how things have turned out. I'm averaging 3-5 toilet trips a day (without urgency) which is awesome. As long as I stay away from spicy stuff the butt-burn in minimal. I'm back to doing the stuff I love like skiing, Mnt. biking, weights, (I'm having issues with running, but that more because of feet problems).
Reflecting on the past couple years, I wanted to reach out and thank you guys for all the positive advice and encouragement you have given me. Your feedback and support was invaluable to me in some really dark times. Please continue to support this forum. UC is a terrible disease and it can be really hard to find anyone that understands how rough it can be. Thank You!
