Hi all, just curious, if you use/have used Entyvio, how long did it take for it to work? Did you use Imuran or something similar alongside it? After what period of time would you consider it a failure?

I have browsed some old conversations about this and see that it takes a while for Entyvio to work, but I haven't come across any specific durations.

I've been on for two and a half months and might be a little better...still bleeding and can't get off of the steriods.

Thanks!

I think my doctor told me it can take 6-8 months to completely work, but I may be remembering that incorrectly. I haven't tried it yet. Have you asked your doctor how long you should wait before considering it a failure? It seems like a very long time to wait. What dose of pred are you stuck on, just curious?

My doctor said we would start to think it a failure at around 6 months. I was just curious if this was the norm and it seems to be. They are suggesting that I consider adding imuran now though.

I start bleeding if I go below 10mg prednisone but it used to be 20 mg so I guess that’s good! Still have lots of symptoms at each dose, though, just not the blood so much.

Thank you for responding

I started tapering off Predisone with my first infusion. I don’t recall how long that taper took but it was as most likely a month. I’d say I was In symptomatic remission at 4 months although a colonoscopy around that same time showed no visible inflammation but some at the microscopic level. After I was off prednisone I used Canasa and Uceris foam. I had bloodwork done that showed I was a nonmetabolizer of the 6mp class of drugs so I never tried those but I did take methotrexate for a few months in the beginning.
UC pancolitis DX March 2016, Partial Colectomy for diverticulitis Sept 2014
Apriso .375 g x 4/day, Canasa & Uceris foam if needed.
Probiotics, Reuteri pearls, CoQ10, Metamucil daily.
Started Entyvio 3/29/17 (Constant flares since March 2016 only relieved by Prednisone)
IN REMISSION!

My doctor told me 10 weeks I would know if I am having a response. I have seen a lot of people wait longer and have success though.

My doc pulled the plug at 14 weeks. Actually i insisted on having the 4th infusion because it did more than nothing (i was able to taper off pred, needed to do that because of severe osteoporosis) but I had so much pain my life was intolerable...i switched to xeljanz which took about 5 weeks to really kick in (then 4 months to full remission)

Thank you all for sharing your experiences! I think I'll continue to work with it for another month or two before adding Imuran.
