Hello UC community. A quick question or two. Let me set the table first. I have an Entyvio infusion scheduled for tomorrow morning and this afternoon I started to feel like I might have a cold coming on. Symptoms are very mild, a little tired and some minor upper respiratory congestion. That’s it. The Entyvio and supplies were delivered yesterday (I get my infusion at home). So, with these symptoms should I put off the infusion or is it not that big of a deal? If I put off the infusion, how long will the medicine keep (I have it stored in my refrigerator)?

My GI said I could get Remicade when I had a cold.

Your infusion nurse will have the final say but usually if you don't have a fever or symptoms of something bacterial, it is OK to get Entyvio.

Thanks for the responses. Does anybody know how long the meds keep if stored in the fridge? If I don’t get the infusion today I’ll have to wait a week because I’m going out of town for work tomorrow.

Update: Just spoke with my nurse and she said that we should wait until I’m feeling better. Since I have to go out of town for work this week I won’t be able to get the infusion until next weekend. My nurse also said that the medication will be ok stored in the fridge until we can do the infusion in a week. This is because the medication hasn’t been mixed yet.

I know Remicade keeps for at least a year (not mixed) because the hospital had some Inflectra stored from a year ago for me.

That sounds like the best plan to me. I wouldn't get an infusion while under the weather personally.
