Hi
I am just finished my the second Pico Salax bowl prep. My Colonoscopy is around 10:00 -11:00 tomorrow morning.

I did what my GI instructed: 4 5mg ducolax last evening at 6:00 pm. I was pooping liquid poop by the last of 15 Toilet trips, and went to sleep around 2:00 am.

Today: as per instruction,at 8:00am I drank the first package of the prep followed with at least 8 glasses of liquids. Over the next few hrs. I continued to spend more time on the toilet until it was just yellow liquid mostly. I did the 2nd dose at 2:00pm. Although I have pooped out liquid only at times, I also have passed mucus.

Can anyone tell me if that will be a problem for the test If it's still happening and is present during the scope? I actually did well with the prep this time. I didn't throw it up, that's why I asked for the kind. I am also wondering if this was the right prep time for my scope scheduled time.

Thanks to anyone who's reading this and can help...sorry about the graphics lol but I know you all can freely talk about it.

All is good! Mucus can be produced in more amounts when the colon feels pushed, irritated, over active....etc.

Yay on not puking...😉

Let us know how the scope goes.

Results Post Colonoscopy:

I finally woke up enough to function. The sedation kept me sleeping all day almost. But at least I couldn't feel a thing. And I believe no polyps were found this go around. And I am in a mild flare through the sigmoid. Nòw I need to wait for the biopsies.

So I don't know if the mucus was a problem, even though I still passed a little this morning. The Dr. Was very nice prior to the sedation, but like last year, he never came to take after. They just ship you out like cattle once their branded..lol

Q...
Yes I have 5 left. They are 100 mg. I didn't use them the last 2 nights. Wasn't surè if I should? I emailed the Dr.s office and asked for a quick apt. because of the trip I,m going on. He left no instructions with the nurses for me. Another reason to dislike him.

I assume I need to continue full dose of Asacol, but should I start the enemas now? I may need to see my GP if I get no response in 5 days. This morning I passed a lot of bright blood and mucus like sludge.

Thanks for helping me through this. 🙄

My GIs have always talked to me after my scopes. The only time that didn't happen was my very first scope right before I was diagnosed and a general surgeon did that one. I would be upset if they didn't come tell me what they found right away.

Hi...I would start the enemas, you're obviously flaring. They come in 1g, 2g, 4g. Call your pharmacy and get them to fax your doc for refills.

When is your trip, and for how long?

Oops I made a mistake, the enemas are 4 grams (100) ml. Still don't know the metric system..lol

Well the office lady is working from home today due to the nasty weather, she can get me into see the Dr. FEB 10th. But I can have the pharmacist FAX over the perception. So that's better.

My trip starts March 10 for 5.5 weeks to Australia. I would need to bring 8 boxes of enemas if I had to do this nightly! Omg....they could freeze underneath in holding...or would I have to carry them on? Or, would foam enemas or even suppositories work? The Cortifoam worked wonders for me several years ago.

Not familiar with cortifoam — is it similar to Uceris foam containers? I know those are high pressure aerosol that shouldn’t go in the plane luggage compartment because they can explode — or so the manufacturer told me. You would have to take it in your carryon— which I did when I flew.

I think the Cortifoam would take up a lot less room, so I will ask the pharmacist. Also I just heard back from my GI Dr. He said to stay on my current doses until I see him. I feel better about our communication...via email and his receptionist.

When the blizzard is over here, I will go see the pharmacist. Thanks flowers...i think it is similar to uceris ( if it's a cortisone type )

Serenity...i know..our pipes froze downstairs. Can't flush the toilet, & showers down to a dribble! To make it worse, there's only a few roads down to the Lougheed, and they are all downhill! At least we never lost

At least you never lost power? Is that what you were going to say? I hope you didn't lose power just as you were typing that, LOL. It got so windy yesterday I was sure we were going to lose power, but somehow it stayed on. Right now all is calm, it is like the calm before the next storm. We are supposed to get some more snow here before the rain starts.
