Not a lot of clinical evidence of Cbd oil helping heal an UC. Anecdotally, some say cbd oil helps. Like anything UC, what's one's miracle treatment, does nothing for another, and might even make another's symptoms a whole lot worse. No guarantees, try if you're so inclined. But don't expect miracles.

I have had UC since I was 12. My doctor prescribed balsalazide but I took it only for awhile and then started taking CBD. A lot of people it works for and a lot of people it does not. I must say, I do think it depends on the person however you MUST GET A GOOD BRAND. Almost every CBD company will say theirs is so pure and this and that. I have found that Charlottes Web really works for me. I don't take any pharmaceuticals and haven't for about 2 years and feel great... (along with live vegetable cultures I make at home). I have also taken the CBD from Fresh Thyme thats in the yellow and black containers and it seems to work very well also, and says the staff there that its good.

I hope this helps!

Hey LaurenA4,
When you say 'live vegetable cultures' you mean fermented homemade pickles and the like?
And if not, care to share how you make get a hold of some?
Thanks

Don't fall for this, cbd oil is as therapeutic to UC as any other placebo or non existent medication. CBD is just the latest trend, they claim it cures anxiety, depression, cancer, now IBD... There is no substantial research to suggest any of this, all the "studies" are sponsored ads.

I respectfully disagree. I take CBD and it works great for my anxiety. Also, I gave it to my dog for a few months before he passed away. He did great on it.

For those of you with success with CBD, at what dose and what type (oil, capsule, other) have you used?
I use a oil with full spectrum (includes all the trace thc & other compounds). Thinking the dose needs to be higher than I take. Been taking 25 to 50 mgs under tongue. Hold for about 2 minutes. Can't say yeah or nay if it helps as it's supplementary to lialda (4/day), canasa (each night), & dicylomine (10mg cap each meal)

Here’s an article I wrote recently on the subject here on HW.

https://www.healingwell.com/articles/post/cbd-pain-management

While I think while some claims are exaggerated (it’s not a cure) CBD has helped me cope better with pain, especially sleeping with pain. It allowed me to get off Gabapentin for nerve pain (which made me loopy) and has a tempering and calming effect on me. I also have muscular and joint pain from Fibromyalgia and Sjogren’s. Usually 50-60 mg at night does the trick. Not sure if it is reducing the pain and inflammation or just my body’s response to the pain signals. Purchase from a reliable company with an established reputation. Cost is unfortunately a factor, it isn’t cheap and dosage can be tricky to figure out.

By the way, I used to be a huge skeptic on CBD and medicinal marijuana use. No longer. I order full spectrum CBD from Lazarus Naturals because they offer discounts to veterans and they grow their own product. Good companies also publish independent testing of their products for quality.

Hope this helps. - Peter
