I don't know if it's gas pain or pouchitis but I haven't had that much pain since I had pan colitis

I walked into my GI's office just now although I'm not expecting anything because I don't have an appointment

I don't know how this is better than UC it is not better at all I'm so miserable and now not even azathioprine is helping if it's pouchitis I've been in constant pain since Monday I can't take this. Tylenol isn't touching it and I can't take opiods for the risk of blockage.

I’ve had them before. They normally clear themselves with some hot pads, hot shower, coffee, tea, grape juice/wine.

I don’t get them any more after my pouch developed and successfully treating my pouchitis.

So sorry to hear this, Andrina. You have had a really bad time with this. What are they doing about the blockage?

Hope you get some relief soon!

Keith how did you deal with the pain? I don't have a hot tub

I should have asked for a sick note

They're only having me on a liquid diet right now and he prescribed Flagyl and cipro to help with the inflammation.

I'm in azathioprine. Why do I still have pouchitis? This isn't logical to me.

I’d take a hot shower, lay in bed with a hot pad and it would resolve itself. I’d drink coffee or grape juice. I heard that red wine works really well.

It would take 4-8 hours to clear after I realized I had a blockage.

I will get grape juice at the pharmacy right now

Will the blockage clear first or will the antibiotics have to kick in and clear the inflammation before the blockage clears? This is my first time and I want to know what to expect.

I’ve never take antibiotics to clear a blockage. It was alway rest, hot and liquid.

You’ll start to get a little output and then a lot.

So a partial and not a full blockage. I was always told juice helps blockages. I’d drink whatever you have on hand.

If you continue to get blockages then you might want to get an MRI to see if you have any adhesions causing them blockages

Sorry to hear you are in pain! I hope it resolves quickly. Also, just curious -- are people with jpouches not supposed to take opiods in general? That would really suck...

I'm certainly not. I haven't had my jpouch even a full year yet. They give you opioids right after surgery but try to get you off as soon as possible.

I'm still blocked and incontinent. I took a nap and pooped myself and just now too. What's happening?

If I had a blockage I wouldn’t be too upset about pooping myself. Hopefully things are starting to move. The most important thing is clearing the blockage.

Did you start taking the antibiotics?

If it is chronic pouchitis that is causing the blockage then you might want to move over to a biological. I’m doing really well on Stelara. During my last scope my GI said that I had the healthiest looking pouch walls (speaking of inflammation) that he’d ever seen under a scope. My scope previous to that had ulcers.

I had a tough first year too, going on and off antibiotics (basically on them), pouch flare ups and blockages.

I will speak with him on Monday. I'm on azathioprine though and it's not logical that I flare? Why am I flaring when azathioprine at this dose used to keep me in remission? Also no other biological kept me in remission ever. What should I do?

Maybe you should have a scope and MRI before making a decision.

I had a scope in December. I definitely ask him however I have no idea if biologics will work for me because they failed. That's why I had the surgery in the first place.

How long can a obstruction last because today I've been drinking grape and prune juice and put the hot pad but I'm still blocked and in pain. I'm having output and it's all fluid now. I'm getting worried I really don't want the tube

I would get liquid output before it cleared. Then all of a sudden I’d hear a lot of noise and you feel it start moving.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. I have pain that usually only has lasted a few hours and then I just lie down and don’t move I don’t have any background noise cause it’s so uncomfortable. When it’s less severe than that I drink warm fluids like hot water with lemon, and have a hot pad on my tummy, hot baths, and I have even used a weighted blanket (sometimes just on my legs) just to made me feel more comfortable.

Thank you all for your replies. I'm sorry Keith that you ent through this too but it's helpful to know what to expect.

Rosie I will send my husband to the store today and have him buy more juice, diapers and now lemons 😊 Thank you so much.

I would be hunched over, it would hurt to move or even concentrate. I had it a few times with my end ileo, once with my loop ileo that required me to go back into the hospital -- they called it a kink and inserted a tube, and a couple of times with my J-pouch.

I haven't had a blockage in over 3 years. (thanks, Stelara???)

That's not counts all the times that I had Ileus from surgery and pain killers. I'd always vomit from the surgical ileus. It's awful to have abdominal surgery and then vomit two days later.
