My understanding was that stool test for colorectal cancer (CRC) was not to be used by patients with an IBD who are at high risk. That the stool tests for CRC are meant for adults of normal risk. It's possible that int the future with more research that stool tests might be recommended for screening IBD patients for CRC. Saw an investigation paper on that.
CRC screenings via colonoscopy are generally recommended by our gasteroenteroligist based on how long we've had UC (8-10 years or more since initial diagnosis starts CRC screening) and severity and extent of our UC play a role in when it starts and how frequent (either every 1 or 2 years). It does vary a little by practice and by patient willingness.
