Calprotectin levels depend partly where the inflammation is...the closer to the rectum the higher the value (if the calprotectin comes from higher up the colon it can break down before being excreted). I would guess what happened is you healed higher up in the colon but still have some major inflammation in the rectum +/- sigmoid colon. I can empathize with your problem...i spent 2 years having calprotectin values above 1000 when I was convinced that meds were helping, yet every time I was scoped it would show severe proctitis. In the end, the values came down when I was on meds that fully treated my symptoms. My most recent calprotectin was 8!
