Hi all,

Just wondering who else got the extremely vulnerable notification from the NHS in the UK, asking for shielding for 12 weeks, even staying away from family members at home.

I'm on Azathioprine which is the reason I believe I would have got the notification, though I wonder if other IBD patients currently not on inmunosuppressants may also got the notification.

I'm not excited about this at all. I live with my wife and 2 young kids, and while we've been isolating since 10 days ago (stopped sending kids to school 1 week earlier) and I have been t home for 14 days already, can't deny the language from the text is quite frightening. I'm privileged enough to have been asymptomatic/on remission for nearly 4 years now, and I haven't experienced any issues with Azathioprine or any infections out of the ordinary prior to being on it, so I try to tell myself that things will be all right. But that's not a battle I win every time I fight it. Just wondering how you're all coping (not just in the UK, but elsewhere as well).

Thanks and keep your chin and hopes up!

Daniel

I'm on the other side of the pond, in USA. So, cannot say a whole lot. Sounds like some guidance is given. This is what I could pull up:

Yeah. I got the letter too. We've been in isolation for the same length of time as you (I took the kids out of school a week before they closed and husband also hasn't left the house now). It's fine now because nobody can go anywhere. It'll start getting tough if the schools go back before the 12 weeks is up (which I don't think they will).

My brother, who has Crohn's and is on azathioprine, got a letter.

Meanwhile, I'm on 6MP and Stelara and haven't got a thing. Had a telephone appointment with my GP today and asked her if I was in a high risk group. She was like, "oh yeah, maybe, I don't really know, tell you what, let me ask the other doctors in the practice. I'll get back to you in x weeks' time."

Anyway, I've signed up to be an NHS volunteer because why not. (It's just delivering stuff to vulnerable people. Like my brother, lol.)
