Hi All,
I had my blood tests and calprotectin done 10 days ago and all came back within range. I was so happy and then this morning I went to to toilet and could see formed and mushy stools mixed together. I did not think much of it as it often happens but than later in the day I started to have further bowel movements: no diarrhoea but formed with some mucus. Experiencing also cramps. I had some wholemeal pasta yesterday which I have not been eating for years. Do you think it could be that? I would be tempted to put it down as a virus but I have been self isolating for 10 days now so I don't know where I could have got it from. I am feeling so anxious as the situation is what it is Covid19 ecc. Thanks

Could be food related if it's a one-off, but could be flare related. Calprotectin test in norm range doesnt mean you're not mildly flaring.

What meds are you on? Why the test in the first place? What have your symptoms been over the past 2 weeks or so?

Hello Quincy,
Tests were done routinely. I have proctitis and on mesalazine 2.4 g daily and 1g suppositories. Over the past two weeks I have been perfectly fine actually one of the best period since a couple of years. Historically my calprotectin goes through the roof even if I had very mild symptoms at least so far...

Whole grain pasta does a number on me ... soft mushy stools and increased frequency so now I avoid it. If that's what caused it you should be ok within a day or 2.

Hello CCinPA,
I don't want to jinx it but this morning I am feeling better. Still a lot of mucus with stools but cramps are nearly gone and overall I feel like my usual myself although starving. Fingers crossed it is not a flare.

That's good news! Hope things continue to improve. I have learned my lesson with whole wheat pasta. Sucks because I know it's supposed to be good for you. It's just not for me.
