I just discovered this site, and it opened a new world for me, let me begin I’m 34yo and was diagnosed with UC about 5 years ago, my symptoms are actually different then most people I read about, I do not have the running to the bathroom so many times a day, it’s actually the opposite I get constipation and I see blood and mucus in my stools, when I was first diagnosed I got cortifoam and canasa, that put me in remission for about 3 years, since then I hadn’t had more then 6 months without flares, was only approved once for cortifoam by my insurance, so I got uceris foam instead, now I’m flaring again and my GI is pushing me to go on Humira, I read all the potential side effects about this med and it’s freaking me out, I am a worrier and knowing I might get cancer from taking this med, won’t help to much, besides all other side effects, my question is I am considering my self a pretty mild case after reading what many people go through, but somehow nothing seems to work to put me in remission for a long period of time, which my GI is saying that it’s very dangerous, is this the right thing to do ? Starting such a serious medication long term? I would appreciate any feedback.
