Hi,

15 year UC, only one major flare three years ago, and here we go again. Came on like a freight train in about 3 days, thought was just a food indiscretion. Morning clustering and today, slight blood.

With the pandemic, cannot even get a PHONE APPT with doc until July 13, outrageous when trying to tackle a flare ASAP. Have calls into 2 other new GI groups nearby.

Started Rowasa last night. Have some prednisone in reserve from last time.

THOUGHTS? Def keep the rowasa going but should I hit it with 40 mgs of pred right away if I can't get an answer? Have had small hiccups in the past but I think this is the real deal - last flare my doc waited WAY too long on the enemas before starting prednisone.

With the fast onset are you sure it isn't CDIFF? Pred would make CDIFF worse.

I would try to speak to a specialist ASAP before starting prednisone. They may want to do diagnostic tests and pred can distort the results...

Confident its not C-diff. It just bothers me in the morning, and rest of the day I'm fine. That's typical of my mini flares, even though this one has kicked in intensely.

And yes, of course, def waiting for my callback from new GI group! Just looking for thoughts on approach - so critical to jump on flares ASAP. Thx!
