Hello everyone!
I have been flaring for 9 months now and I started Qing Dai about 6 days ago. I. started with a very little dose and gradually increased it. Currently taking 1/4 teaspoon twice a day. I have seen no difference so far and was wondering if any suggestions regarding dosage or how I take it? Please give all your suggestions and experiences with Qing Dai!

Thank you!

Hi there,

There seems to be some scientic evidence on the benefits of Quing Dai on UC. However, there are also reports of serious side effects. Research is going on to remove the nocive aspects of Quing Dai and introduce the good ones as an alternative treatment of UC. See papers published recently:

Curious if things ever improved for you or if you just stopped taking it.

You're supposed to take it with food to avoid upset stomach.

Deee 19,

How did you take them, dose, frequency etc, and what brand did you use? Since none of this is really standardized it sounds like it can be trial and error in finding the dose that works just right for you. I understand that quality of the product could make a difference too. How worse did you get? Am still thinking about taking but am not clear about how much to take.

@journeytoheal I got the one from acupuncture atlanta - treasure of the east.
I dont remember exactly but 1/4 teaspoon was = to 1 gram I believe thats what I did. I mixed it in water. I really feel the way I did it was not correct.
My bleeding had increased I believe and I quit it quickly.
I suggest you take the suggestion of someone who has taken it properly before or a chinese herbalist. One thing I have learned lately about natural remedies is if you take something correctly the way its supposed to it can work greatly.
Are you in a flare up?

Thanks for the reply. I don’t really know what I am in. Will have intermittent bleeding with perfect poop in between. What you described in terms of the instructions seems correct from what I heard and read. What do you think was incorrect about what you did? Did you ever get your flare under control?

Maybe I had to drink it with hot water or empty stomach. I am a believer of natural remedies and in this current flare I have learned if you take something a certain way it can do wonders. For example, Oil of Oregano years ago was introduced to me by a local nutritionist she mentioned to me it was good to take only while I am suffering from a flu etc. During this flare while hunting for remission, I found a protocol by Jini Patel which included Oil of Oregano as the main ingredient to be taken 3-5x/day. It was one protocol which actually made me feel much better. (Eventually it didn't work because I introduced another supplement which triggered my flare terribly) I am still flaring its been 17 months. sad

Hi,

I used Qing Dai at the same time as starting remicade and I'm not sure what worked but I was able to ween off prednisone. I stopped taking it when I came off pred because it was causing cramps and bloating. I believe it coats your colon. I was using CC Herbal, and I could only tolerate 1 pill a day.

Dee19- I also found oil of oregano about 3-4 years ago and it worked wonders at first. My understanding is it acts as a antibiotic, killing all bacteria in the gut. I shortly went into a horrible flare that lasted a long time, and I didn't introduce anything new, so I'm pretty sure it was from the oil of oregano.

This disease is so insidious. I really can't ever pin point anything which is super frustrating!

I just ordered Qing Dai yesterday, and should have it Monday. I’ve been symptomatic for over 3 years, since I was first diagnosed with UC.

If it works for me, I’ll definitely share it here. I generally don’t stop supplements if they make me feel a little off at first because I expect some things to cause a Herx or “healing crisis.” I also have a pretty high bar for what would constitute a severe reaction since I’ve been through the ringer over the last few years.

After reading a lot of the reviews here, I’m hopeful. But also skeptical because I’ve felt this way about supplements before. In any case, I’ll report back in a week or two about the results, or if it causes an immediate positive result I’ll let you all know.

Were you taking oregano capsules? I noticed that if I took oregano capsules on an empty stomach in the morning, it would cause severe irritation. Probably because the capsule opens further down the GI tract and hits your inflamed colon more directly than if you had taken it with food, or had taken an oregano tincture that gets absorbed and acts higher up in the GI tract, or just the stomach…

Oregano caps on an empty stomach in the morning with a irritated, inflamed colon is a recipe for disaster in my opinion.

Definitely keep us posted!
I took the tincture explained exactly in the book "Listen to your gut" along with the probiotics she suggested.

North Country- I used essential oils for the oregano oil. I would mix something like 2-4 drops in water and drink. It was super spicy.

Worked well for a bit but pretty sure it caused a nasty flare by killing ALL bacteria in my gut.
