Just wanted to give a gentle reminder to not only take care of yourself physically; but mentally and emotionally as well! I've had colitis for 9 years, and this past year I developed chronic stress and anxiety. I only recently learned how high the stats are for people with IBD to also develop anxiety/depression. I wish my gastro or someone would have mentioned how much higher of a risk I was at to develop anxiety; I would probably have seen the warning signs a lot sooner I think.
"People with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, are at increased risk of developing anxiety and/or depression. Some research has found that anxiety and depression are two to three times more likely to occur in IBD patients, compared with the general population." I have recently gotten into meditation which I personally find relaxing and calming. I know yoga, getting outside, exercising regularly, eating well, and keeping up relationships with others all help as well! Everyone take care of yourselves, especially during this crazy time period! <3
