Hi Everyone
I haven't visited this forum for awhile.
I need some input re my problem with anemia and would appreciate your advice.
Which iron supplements do you like and how long until you feel some positive results?
I'm in Florida where the covid19 epidemic is raging,
limiting access to doctors. Thanks for your help.

I don't take iron supplements so I am not sure what supplement is best. Chelated iron? I dunno.

But I do know that vitamin C helps your body to absorb iron. And many people who are anemic sometimes take synergistic supplements along with iron, such as folic acid (the natural form of folic acid 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF)),
And the natural form of vitamin B12 which is methylcobalamin.

I’ve been using Floradix liquid iron. My ferritin level was 8 in late January, and 44 when I was retested in late May, so I feel like it has helped. It’s a lot easier on my stomach than iron pills I’ve tried.

My GI recommended "Slow Fe", time release. 2 tabs per day.

I didn't have anemia, but my levels were low and prescribed to take ferrous gluconate. No issues with it, and my levels increased over a period of time.

Have you also had your B12 checked?

I was also told to take ferrous gluconate for anemia by my gastroenterologist. In Canada it is cheap and sold over the counter without prescription here, tho I did have to ask the pharmacist as it was behind the counter. 2 pills/day

I tried ferrets, but it was much too strong for my poor sensitive system. Kept me up all night with heart palpatations! I seem to be having great results from the Vitamin Code brand, though! It took a few weeks for me to start experiencing the benefits. And I like that it's whole food based. Hope you've found something that works for you by now. If not, hopefully, this helps.

Yes. Ferrets brand iron. lol
Look it up on amazon or google it. It’s high potency iron and REALLY gets the job done. It was too strong for me, but I plan on trying half a tablet one day when I’m brave enough to try it again.

Oops. Hahaha
Please excuse my typo. It’s good stuff and gets the job done, but if you have a sensitive system, start off by cutting in halves or even thirds to start with. If you ever decide to try it out. I purchased two bottles and need to return them.

I have IDA too. I have found myself to be mostly intolerant to oral iron though (and I have tried the ferrous salts, Gluconate, and the slow release kind too). Slow release didn't cause any noticeable discomfort but it appeared to be not very effective at raising levels in my case.
Ferrobine Syrup I tolerate very well but the dosage is too less.
My Hgb was 8.9 in Nov 20 and after I took iron injections for it, it has risen to 10.8 in Feb 21. The iron injections were really good in terms of tolerance.
