Hi everyone,

So today I went to my urologist as I was having some issue with urinating and pain. Turns out I have prostatitis. I am 32 and 2 previous urologist simply didn't bother checking properly due to my age.

Apparently prostatitis can happen in people who have ulcerative colitis as it is so close to the colon. Wondering if anybody here has experienced this?

My treatment is a round of 7 days on 2 antibiotics which are Cipro and Flagyl then some more natural supplements and diet to keep it away.

I do have an appointment with my GI tomorrow to go over my calprotectin levels increasing from 50 to 256 over the last 6 months and will of course mention these antibiotics. I'm really hoping they don't cause any flares because symtom wise Im actually a lot better than I was 6 months ago with a lower calprotectin level..

Appreciate any feedback!

I have had urinary problems here and there all through my late 30s. My urologist is terrible and just offered flomax after a 15 second discussion. You should develop a relationship with a good urologist and make sure they are aware of your increased risk of prostate cancer.

1Wish, it's more common than most people know about young men getting prostatitis. My SIL started at the age of 30 of getting it. His was considered chronic because he gets it over & over. Some men only get it once & they are done with it. Sometimes his is treated with antibiotics & sometimes not.

If interested, read at the Mayo Clinic's website about it, please do not get scared about the comment of it becoming prostate cancer, that's incorrect.

Unfortunately, adjacent organs can be affected with inflammation including the bladder, guys prostate, or womens reproductive system.

Cipro, is a black flagged, very strong antibiotic, that can do more harm than good.

It gifted me with C. Diff, which made UC look like a walk in the park. Do some research about it, and be very careful. My bias is that MD's grossly over prescribe this sledgehammer drug.

Good luck!

I have the same problem was diagnosed about a month ago..I`m working at home and sitting in front of my pc all day and night.so i don`t think that helps... My psa is slightly up like 450 but he says that`s not so serious with procitits

I use the pentasa enemas at night and sometimes it`s difficult to urinate without losing the enema,,so that`s a problem..and I don`t think the enema helps my prostate..I was on an antibiotic for a week and taking bee pollen(smells awful)
