Been a very tough road lately. I was put on humira in March and it had yet to put me in remission. I briefly felt better and was able to get of pred but am back on. Other meds include sulfasalizine, Canasa and rowasa. I had a blood test and results came back negative for antibodies but my concentration was too low. I have a new gi who prescribed weekly dosing but insurance is an issue. They are claiming weekly is off label and that I should switch. Just looking for thoughts? I need to figure it out to start being able to provide for my family again. What biological should I push for if I need to make the switch? Thanks for any advise
Trying to stay positive

Some people get better response from weekly injections. Didn't help me at all. We went to Remicade after Humira and it was a dramatic difference. Some people say if you fail 1 medication in the same class others won't work either but Remi works for me and Humira did not.

Having said that I don't feel like I am in full remission but doc says it may be IBS now since the only problem I am having is that while stools are formed they are just pieces. I can live like this though so not stressing over it.

I was in full remission on Entyvio -- loved that drug. Sadly it stopped working for me and that's when I switched to Humira.

If Humira was your first biologic you have lots of options.

I would hope your new gi's office has filed an appeal with your insurance. Typically this is done when insurance turns a patient down. Some people do well with the weekly injections & others don't, not everyone is the same.

Remicade would be a good choice since it has a longer track record than any of the others.

Check with your gi's office to see if an appeal was done on your behalf.

An appeal has been filed. I’m going to give it a few more days to see but will discuss with my gi doc to see other options. It is my first biologic drug I have tried. I’m just so over feeling bad at this point. If I do change what are the quicker reacting biologics to consider?
Thank you

Don’t give up hope yet! I struggled at first with Humira and weekly injections have been my sweet spot. I’m now in remission.
Hoping the insurance comes through quickly for you.

Thanks
Insurance approved . Stumble upon an amazing local specialty pharmacy that pushed through the insurance appeal that was excepted.

For anyone who went to once a week, how long did it take to help after making the switch?
Thanks
