Who can tolerate caffeine ?

Still too new of a diagnose to see if coffee effects me. I usually have decaf, but on some days I have regular coffee. I regularly have tea like earl grey or green tea and don’t see any aggravated symptoms.

I can tolerate coffee when I’m in remission not when I’m flared

I drink tea or coffee...enjoy both. Not all coffee is equal, however, for Starbucks and ilk makes me want to puke from the smell alone.

I can tolerate coffee as long as I'm not flaring

strange, I can tolerate coffee but don't tolerate any tea what worries me because I love it! I've read that decaffeinated coffee is very unhealthy and irritates the colon much more than real coffee

If I'm in a flare, nothing "really matters" when it comes to diet, within reason (bowl of jalapenos not recommended). In fact, I find if I have a cup of coffee or two in the AM it "blows out" my colon and I can get on with my day for the most part. Otherwise, again, personally - all different - I struggle with tenesmus and "do I have to go???" if I forego the java.

Tea is the WORST for me. I've tried specific teas for UC etc and they kill me. Even during remission if I go to High Tea (which we love to do) it gives me the trots. So weird. Listen to your body.

This is the ULTIMATE frustration of UC re diet: first rule of UC, THERE ARE NO RULES : --)

Coffee or tea....no problem. If I add whole milk....big problem!
