I have pretty bad tenesmus at the moment but all I’m passing is blood, my pelvic floor muscles are so sore! Anyone else have this and found anything that can help ease it? I’ve already upped the melasalazine and steriod enemas but it’s not helping

steroids are just about the only thing that help when I get that bad, both oral and rectal. Sorry you are dealing with this, I think this is the worst part of UC.

Ugh...I feel for you! How long on the enemas?

You could ask your doctor to prescribe an antispasmodic...I use dicyclomine 20mg.

I’ve been on budesonide oral and enemas for a few weeks now but not seeing much improvement yet. I should have updated my signature sorry. I’m fighting taking pred as I’ve only just managed to get off a 2 year stint at the start of this year and can’t face going back on it again until I’m desperate. I’ll ask for the antispasmodic, thanks for the tip I’ve not heard of it before.

I agree this is the worst part, well that and pooping your pants is up there too haha, feeling like I’ve just had a baby- ah the joys!

Is there a reason you aren't on mesalamine enemas?

Ah yes I’m on them too, and melasalazine suppositories. I’m sticking so much up my bum at the moment it’s like a party in there. Unfortunately I can’t keep much in for very long. I think I’m probably maxed out on both the melasalazine and budesonide from both end. I’m think I’m going to have to bite the bullet and get back on pred.

LOL...quite the party indeed!
Have you had stool testing done? Maybe do that before you go on pred.

Not yet, my gi is away at the moment but back next week, I’ll ask for a stool test and then antispasmodic from him then, thanks for your help
