Hello everyone,
I would appreciate if you can answer my question. It’s about my daughter who is 13 now. She was diagnosed with UC 3 years ago. She didn’t respond to medications so they decided to do colectomy for her. She had her take down 5 months ago. She was doing good after the surgery until last week when she saw a little bit of blood in her stool. The blood is on and off since last week. No other symptoms. My question is “has this happened to you?” Her doctor has ordered calprotecton and endoscopy, but I would love to hear from you guys. Please respondsmile

The surgeon or gi should be able to do a tiny scope of the pouch in the office. Perhaps it's hemorrhoids, or something along those lines. It could also be pouchitis, but that can be treated with antibiotics, so try not to worry. Best to get to the bottom of it, then you can treat it and she will be better before you know it.
