Not important, just need to vent at some stupidity.

I have posted here and there about the frustrations I have with getting copies of my colonoscopy & pathology reports. I have never managed to get both of them, and it is like pulling teeth to get even one. My GI makes me get them from my GP. My GP's office always claims they didn't receive it and they have to ask for it again. GI's office always claims they sent it promptly. (I find my GP's office more disorganized so I vote for the fault lying with them fwiw).

I have a colonoscopy every two years. Have for a long time. My last one was in 2018. This year's was delayed from June to August due to COVID. Anyway, I spoke to my GP yesterday about something else and also asked for my reports. She couldn't find them, as per usual. Oh, one new development is they will now email them to me!! Well, in theory. So, sure enough, I got an email late yesterday. The pathology report was there, and a report from my GI... from the appointment I had with her in July 2019. Not a scope report. Sigh. There were a few typos in the report, including where she says my next scope is due 2029 (instead of 2020).

I emailed back. The response I just got says "The report from July 2019 says you are not due for a colonoscopy until 2029. If you did have one done this year, who performed it and at what hospital?"

Excuse me. "IF" I had one done??? Could I possibly be mistaken? Oh, I thought I had one done, but you're right, I dreamed up the whole thing. I am irritated. And foolishly, I replied very snippily so now I'm sure I'll never get the report.

You have my deepest empathy on these snafus, Serenity. Some doctors either lack an organized office manager or put up with incompetent or indifferent support staff for various reasons. Then we patients suffer the consequences. Earlier this yr, due to COVID-19 closings, I needed to get a new Rx script from longtime gastro via snail-mail. So I e-mailed gastro with explanation & then used the med center's "patient portal" e-connection to the office support staff (which gastro wants us to do) requesting the paper script to be snail-mailed to me at home. (Because I need to send it myself to my out-of-state insurer, to be certain that they get the med dispensed from their pharmacy unit closest to my home location!) Well, a new staffer, who turned out to be substituting for a regular gone on leave of absence, then mailed me a photocopy Rx instead of the original paper copy! Longer story short, it took 3 weeks to resolve this issue! More recently, I got a gastro office visit arranged by phone for a date 2 months in advance, which was correctly entered right away on the "patient portal". However, when I looked up another pending MD appointment on the portal last week, I found that the arrival time for this future gastro office visit has been moved ahead by 2 1/2 hours, though no staffer ever contacted me about a change of time! As Quincy sometimes says: "Sheesh!" These situations can be very frustrating!!!!! Like all we have to do in life is pursue one or another correction! / Old Hat (40 yrs with left-sided UC, etc.)

Oh for crying out loud. We have enough to handle with this disease, who needs all this hassle??? Completely unnecessary.
