Quick question! I've seen VSL#3 recommended a lot but then I saw something that said that the guy that came up with the original formulation left the company and the product has since changed but they didn't really advertise that. So he went on to make a product called Visbiome instead with the "original formulation". I'm in the UK and have just seen a product called Vivomixx which also claims to have this, I'm guessing it could be the European version of Visbiome sort of thing? Does anyone know anything about this / could cast some light on it? And do you think it's likely to make any difference?

The only thing that's different is the inactive ingredients as opposed to the active ingredients (i.e. the bacterial strains). If you have a sensitivity to one of the inactive ingredients you might notice a difference between the brands. I've used both vivvomix and vsl3 and had no difference in bowel complaints. The most important factor is that it's delivered to you either with cooling or as fast delivery as possible as the bacteria cannot survive longer than 7 days unrefrigerated or at temperatures above 25C

I used to use VSL3 but switched to Visbiome which is much better for me. I’m also previously from UK and VSL3 is widely available.

You don't really know what you're getting with any of these. They list the bacterial strains and the total amount, but don't specify how much of each strain. So you might get 70% of one strain in one formulation and 80% of another strain in another formulation. No guarantee of batch-to-batch variation from the same supplier.

Caveat emptor.
