Tonsillectomy While On Remicade for UC?

I intend to talk to my GI and my primary care before scheduling as well, but wondering if anyone had to stop Remicade or other TNF-a before tonsillectomy surgery. I have a single enlarged tonsil that the ENT is offering the option of surgery for, but not pushing it. I am less concerned about flare recurrence than complications during/after surgery as a result of the biologic. Currently on 8 week maintenance. I am not currently on any other steroids or UC treatments.

Also if anyone has an experience with tonsillectomy recovery interested in your accounts. Thank you.

By all means discuss this with your gi dr. My sister was older when she had her tonsils taken out & she had a hard recovery. In fact, she said had if she had any idea she would not have had it done. It is much harder for adults than young children. You say you have an enlarged tonsil but left it at that. Are you having a lot of infections?
