Is it possible that the pain from a flaring colon can be experienced elsewhere in the body as referred pain?

As in where in your body is your pain?

When the immune system is reved up, some of us have increased body temp, headache, back, joint and muscle pain. Some of us will have UC related health issues flare as well...

When we're inflamed in a flare, we can get extra-intestinal manifestations. Most common is joint pain elsewhere in the body. Usually in the big joints of the extremeties, back or hip.

100% I know right BEFORE I start flaring that I am bleeding in my lower colon / rectum. Always first to come and last to go. I get a horrible lower back ache that is not alleviated by tylenol etc, anything. It is the inflammation referring to the localized bleeding (PS, no docs will prescribe anything in this era of drug seeking.......awful. I just live on a heating pad.)

One person's opinion...

I need to say this...although others may disagree...there is no BEFORE a flare to have bleeding (which is already well into a flare)..and no end of a flare once bleeding stops (there is still inflammation...aka flare... left to regress).
