Hi guys, I dont have UC, but I have another autoimmune disease (autoimmune neuropathy of the sensory nerves and autonomic nerves of my gut). It started after getting stomach sick in costa rica. I'm trying to heal my SIBO and gut issues, and figured you guys would know.

I have been doing ketogenic w/ great results, but my NP just prescribed Mutaflor.

I was curious if anyone else has tried this? I've been using it for about 3 weeks and have to keep stopping because i get super stomach sick and nauseous with tons of gas. I'm curious if this happened to anyone else, and did it eventually subside and normalize? My undrstanding is that this is happening due to die-off, and the fact that it causes such a bad reaction to me means that there's tons of bad bacteria that it's killing. i'd like to stick it out, if i knew that it would eventually get better....

Are they selling Mutaflor here in the U.S. again? I thought it was a wonderful probiotic but it was only temporarily available here before being discontinued.

What you might be experiencing is the very common Jarisch–Herxheimer reaction where bad gut bacteria die off in huge numbers. But I have never heard of a Herx reaction lasting weeks like that. You are probably allergic to it and I would discontinue immediately.

There are other very effective probiotics available such as VSL#3.

I ordered it here: https://feelgoodnatural.com/shop/mutaflor/mutaflor-sale-60-caps-30-days-supply/?v=7516fd43adaa&c=e6574c964bd7

no problems gettig it into the US, showed up in about a week.

I too think its a jarix-herxheimer. I kind of like the fact that i am flaring so much as it tells me im on the right track, and there are tons of baddies in my stomach that need killing..but im unsure, maybe the herx never quits

I used mutaflor for a year and not sure if it helped- didn't have any reaction to it. I had something similar to what you describe with vsl#3 but it went away after a week or so
You could try lowering the dose for a few days and see if that makes things more manageable
