Just meet with my GI and he wants to start me on my first Biologic (lialda and Rowasa will not keep me in remission). I am 73 years old and wanted to see how anyone is doing on Humira past age 70 (time in remission and length of time to remission after loading dose). Also want to check possible cost when on Regular Medicare with a Part D prescription Plan. At age 73 is the risk of Humira worth it vs surgery. Thanks for your responses.

Not sure about biologic but surgery at 73 is risky depending on your health. One of surgeons I saw wouldn't do surgery over 65yo. Consult a surgeon or too now. Once UC gets bad and uncontrollable u might need emergency surgery. Get consultations out of the way now. Don't wait in case this is path u chose. You will get biologic info from others here since I chose not to go that route. Good luck.

I answered on the other thread about part d costs. We’ll kind of. I have no experience with humira but you should check with whoever you buy your part d plan from and see if it’s covered. There’s many plans out there and they all have different costs and formularies. Call humira manufacturer and ask if they have a no pay option for those who can’t afford their copay. My experience with these programs is they are super nice to deal with. Applications are a bit of a hassle as you have to involve your dr to submit the application along with a prescription and it has to be done yearly. But after that it’s super easy and they ship direct to you.
