I developed a thrombosed hemorrhoid. I went to my gastro doc and could only get an appt with his PA. They said take sitz baths and Tylenol and it should go away in a few days. They also gave me the nifedipine cream but I was too nervous to take it after reading about the side effects. Plus they said it wouldn’t shrink the size, only help with pain.

That was three weeks ago and I still have the hemorrhoid. For the most part, it has retracted back into the rectum but will pop out again after a bowel movement. I’m not having the intense pain I was having. That went away after the first few days but the size has not gone down at all. I emailed the PA through the patient portal and she told me the fact that I don’t have pain means the bloodclot has gone. There’s no way it has because it’s a hard lump and still the same size. After a bowel movement it comes back out and sometimes I’ll have slight lain for a few hours and then the pain goes away. I’ll be making a follow up appt. They were leery of cutting it to remove the clot since I’m in remission from proctitis and I’ve also had c.diff twice in the past.

Anyone had a thrombosed hemorrhoid that took more than three weeks to resolve? Anything else that might help me?

I've dealt with hemmies before, you should consider getting OTC Tucks or preparation H. I would try either one while waiting to see the dr. I hope you can get some relief.
