So most UCers have gallbladder issues? I have acid reflux and burning stomach that wakes me for years and PPI don’t help, trying slippery elm and it seems to help.

Should I have it taken out? I have to meet with a doctor. Would you have it taken out of its 9nly working 15% thanks

Do you have gallstones? The gallbladder transports bile from the liver to the digestive organs when we eat. If stones develop there and clog that passage, it can cause a lot of discomfort. A couple female colleagues of mine in 50-60 yr age range have agreed to gallbladder removal because they felt so bad after eating ordinary meals; they didn't have any other digestive system problems. One of them told me that she even started feeling pain just from drinking plain water; that's when she decided on surgery. If you usually feel OK after meals then the "15% function" doesn't make much sense. (AM reflux could be coming from other issues.) / Old Hat (40 yrs with left-sided UC; in remission taking Colazal)

Thanks Old Har and others. No real pain, red meat takes a while to digest.
My big thing is staying on the Rowasa enemas those are best for me. They help with my acid reflux as silly as it sounds. Maybe when the colon is calm so is my higher upper GI system.

Then I think you'd be better off pursuing a 2nd opinion (before agreeing to gall bladder surgery). Even though they do it now by laparoscope through one's navel, it's still an invasive procedure that requires urinary catheter, sedation, & antibiotics-- so it's more than a walk in the park. Take care; it sounds like you're doing pretty well considering all you've been through to get this far. All best wishes!!!! / Old Hat (40 yrs with left-sided UC)
