Hey guys wondering if u had colon removed have u had kidney stone issues??. Being colon absorbs most of liquid we drink and kidneys need water to flush them has anyone had kidney stone issues. I'm going in next week to have stent removed and stones removed from left kidney again. Had surgery in each kidney early 2020. So no more iced tea, chocalate, nuts, less salt etc for me. Got to get stricter with my diet

That sucks! I've never had them, but I have read here that UCers can be prone to them.
Hope the diet change helps...found this that might help...seems quite indepth.

Sorry to read that you have recurrent kidney problem, Champ. Diet is really important with stone issues. I know that from former BF experience, plus hubby of a friend who thought it was safer to drink beer than water. (LOL!) So definitely take good care and ask your GF for moral support. / Old Hat (40 yrs with left-sided UC)

Thankfully, I've never had one. I am so sorry you're dealing with this. I've heard they are painful.

3x,
Since 2016 colostomy...I have developed 2 5mm stones in left kidney and several smaller stones in the right. The infections just keep on coming. We are still trying to figure out what to do first...fistula repair, kidneys, hernia repair or removal of the Hartmann pouch. When it rains it pours. I gotta admit- the pain you described has me voting for kidney stone repair first.
I hope you feel better soon.

Good luck on Wed., Champ! I hope a diet change can rid you of further stones formation in kidneys. Does doctor use ultrasound to break them up? / Old Hat

OK. You're better off than a famous French writer, Michel de Montaigne, who lived in an unheated stone castle in the Bordeaux wine region of France during the 16th century. He wrote many philosophical essays that have English translations, including some where he mentioned the agony of trying to pass kidney stones! Imagine, no meds available and he could only suffer 'til the stone finally made it thru his ureter. That happened to him many times-- so he finally wrote: "The purpose of illness is to prepare us for death." Glad I read his stuff in my younger yrs because the thought of his suffering in the cold w/o medicine or doctors long ago made it somewhat easier for me to deal with UC flares. *** Take good care and come back to us ASAP post-laser. / Old Hat

Had it Wednesday. All good. Remove stent. Laser stones. Install new stent. No Naseau from Anestesia which is always good. Hurts when I pee. Little blood. All expected. Water. Water and more water. Stricter diet. Don't want to repeat this every year. Thanks Clo. Be well
