hey guys, going through a long flare, and I just switched back yesterday to Mesalamine Enemas - and strangely today I saw dark-brown mucus in the creases of the stool along with regular mucus (excessive than normal) - my stool is ok between formed and pasty - so mucus is visibly separated from stool - but why the dark mucus?
Could it be digested bood? but shouldn't that be "baked" in the stool and not part of the mucus?
Could it be "stained" mucus from the mesalamine enema? Mesalamine Enemas stain surfaces/clothing
Or is this a sign that I have a sensitivity (allergy) to mesalamine enema?
Lastly - only 1 or 2 specs of blood in the mucus

I take it your flare included bleeding?
The enemas can turn a mix of blood, mucus and stool a purple colour. Mucus can be mixed in or around the stool if in larger amounts.

Since you're having formed stool...i assume your flare is limited to rectum or just into sigmoid at this point?

How long on the enemas?
