Hi all,

I've had UC for 20 years. I am having a different flare compared to usual and am worried. I'm having 2 BM's per day with bright blood, partly formed. Then whenever I pee each time, I have very small amounts of light stool coming out, mucous and blood. This is new in the past 3 days. Not a real bowel movement.

Is this a sign of a more severe flare that I have some blood coming out of the rectum with small amts of stool each time I pee? I am also extremely tired. My blood work from 1 week ago was good, but things changed since then.

I am adding uceris foam today to the mix. My GI said I should be able to start entyvio in 2 weeks since I can no longer tolerate mesalamine. I am still trying mesalamine enemas.

It's normal...I get that when I flare except no blood for a long time.

Sounds like your inflammation is regressing and more limited with 2 bms daily. Symptoms bm-wise change, becoming less. You will still expel the mucus and smaller amounts of stool if in the rectum. Never trust a fart during this most difficult and confusing phase...lol.

So if the enemas have helped up to this point, stick with them for a long while yet...many stop or taper them way too soon.

I thought I was doing worse. The BM's are basically the same at 2 per day, but there is more bleeding. What's new is that every time I pee like 6 times a day, there are small amounts of stool coming out of me with blood. That part is new and thought it was a sign of a more severe flare. Any thoughts?

Clarifying...you're still trying the mesalamine? What exactly is the enemas schedule?

What exactly were symptoms before the more mucus?

Yes, doing mesalamine enema nightly and also will be adding uceris foam during the day. There has just been more bleeding going on. Today I had 5 loose BM with little blood (not much). The other days only 2-3 with mucous and blood or small amounts.

So could be worse since adding the mesalamine again?

You could continue what you're doing and consider only half a mesalamine enema nightly and see if that helps. If it gets worse, drop it.

Are you able to i crease the uceris foam to twice daily?
